Chausuyama is in Tennoji Park and is a historic site designated by Osaka Prefecture. In 1614, during the Winter Siege of Osaka, Tokugawa Ieyasu set up his headquarters here.
Kawazoko Pond at the foot of the hill is thought to be a remnant of the burial mound’s moat. Excavations in 1986 cast doubt on the claim that it was a “large keyhole-shaped tomb about 200 meters long,” but it has not been ruled out as a kofun.
Address: 1 Chausuyama-cho, Tennoji Ward, Osaka (inside Tennoji Park); just drop by while you stroll the park.
